Smallville, Veggie 101 & top 5

Blogger is being a real brat
with photos!!! *sigh* This is
a large photo that i can't get
any bigger for some reason...
Waaaaaaaah. I love this pic!

The girls rest after a romp in a dog park at Balboa Park.
They had such a good time playing and resting, too.

A couple of nice peeps "tagged" me for the "5 Foods U Gotta Try B4 U Die" (that's the Prince - he of "Purple Rain" fame- version of it). I guess i have to say (write) that what these are, are some of my current fave snacks. Thanks for the tag, my friends!

1. Uncle Eddie's Vegan Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies.
(Trader Joe's has a wonderful knock-off version too!!) Tasty, and can completely fool any non-vegan!!! One day i'll learn to bake something like these great guys.

2. I know this is weird, but, whatever, 'cause i am:
Toasted plain rice cakes with creamy peanut butter and boysenberry fruit spread. Oh.My.Gosh. I can't tell you how much i love this combo. Like the photo but with loads o'fruit spread!

3. Roasted garlic. Oy, so good it's almost sinful. Roasted veggies
are some of my fave eatin's, but there's something special about
garlic when roasted w/a little bit of olive oil & a dash o'salt. Wow.

4. Reese's Peanut Butter Puffs and Almond Breeze soymilk.
Together. Again. For the first time. Forever. At last!

5. "Blanche." This is a top-secret recipe, a frozen drink/shake
created by my pal Peter. It's not vegan 'cause he uses Ovaltine,
which unfortunately contains whey, but all the other ingredients
are vegan. I have been actively seeking a substitute for him to use.
Blanche's got nutrition, it's refreshing, it's made in a Vita-Mix and
it's loaded, loaded, i tell you, with calories - but it is so insanely good.

Hope everyone has a truly happy weekend!

Your photos are so tiny looking. How odd. Well, that's Blogger for ya. Who knows what they're messing around with today.
I like your top 5! I forgot roasted garlic too. Geez! When I make dips or dishes that don't require cooking, but include garlic, I sometimes find the flavour a little overwhelming and I always say to Jim "I should have used roasted garlic". There's a restaurant we like called "The Rude Native" and one of the appetizers is toast points (fancy way of saying dry bread) with roasted garlic, brie and red currant jelly. I know it's not vegan, but whoa! They do it up nice on a plate with a bulb of garlic in the middle and you get to squeeze it out yourself.
I've never had Reese's puffs but I'm tempted. I remember way back when I was a kid, my mom bought this Winnie The Pooh cereal that was - strangely - peanut butter flavoured. What pb has to do with Pooh, I don't know. I really liked that cereal. And I'm totally intrigued by Blanche! Any other hints??

I love all of the links you always have. They're so interesting and fascinating. Love the 101 year old veg head.

I've never tried Uncle Eddie's cookies. Heard a lot about em though and since they've made your top 5 I must now find them!

I'm with Carrie - I can't believe I forgot about roasted garlic. It's just so darn good.

Great list girl!

Roasted vegetables with garlic, you are making me so hungry. Nothing yummier than hot roast vegies on a cold night. Love to cut up a red chilli as well and add, gives that extra bite, best wishes, The Artist

I love rice cakes with peanut butter and fruit spread too! It's my breakfast most mornings.

It's so great that one of your top 5 foods is something (Blanche) made by your friend. I think one of the greatest gifts you can give someone is food you prepared yourself.

The dogs are beautiful as always!

Ah - the roasted garlic. That is one good thing and I'm lucky to have discovered it a year ago. Yum! Good top 5.

Awww, what a cute pic of the dogs resting. That's a wonderful story about the 101 year old vegetarian. Amazing! Enjoyed reading your list. Roasted garlic is fab. And Rob is totally with you on Peanut Butter cereal. I buy him the Envirokidz Peanut Butter Panda Puffs. And Peter has a Vita-Mix? Tell him I'm so jealous! :) Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!

There's a small article in the latest VegNews about a 120 year old woman who has been veg her whole life. It's awesome!

Roasted garlic is amazing, but I can't roast it here at home. Have you asked Peter to try a soy protein or something besides whey?

You guys should try hemp protein powder! I've seen it advertised somewhere - it must be available. I love chocolate Almond Breeze and roasted garlic. Good choices! :) Cherie
