Yesterday...

... all my troubles seemed so far away...

http://beatlesstory.com/news.asp?key=2&nkey=105&archive=&nid=BEATL

I really do think Paul McCartney's one of the finest human beings on this planet.

Believe it or not, I ran into (literally, almost) Paul McCartney in London when I visited my sister, who lives there, back in February of 1998.

It seemed that for hours I was in Harrods (http://www.harrods.com/Cultures/en-GB/homepageindex.htm ), a huge store, with my mom and several of my nieces and nephews. I got "cabin fever" and had to get out of there for a while!

So I left one of the myriad doors and walked out and as I started walking down the street, I saw someone get out of a car that had stopped in the middle of the street I was walking on. It was none other than Paul. Then it was Paul approaching; he was headed into Harrods! (This was just a few months before his lovely wife, Linda, would pass away.)

I was flabbergasted, shocked, surprised, stunned... you name it, I was "bloody" astounded! He walked right by me and my mouth was agape. What did I do? I turned and watched him walk right by.

At the corner, which was near where he passed me, there were people standing there watching him as well.

I said to no one in particular and everyone in general: "WAS THAT PAUL McCARTNEY?!!"

Someone said, "Yes, it sure was." Like it happened every day or something...

His birthday is June 18. Hope it's happy, tho Heather-less...

If you haven't read his excellent interview with VIVA! from 1998 (what is it about that YEAR?), here it is in parts I and II:

I hope all your personal icky stuff will be blown gently away like the wind on the sand dislosing the beautiful shell underneath (now where did I get that from?).
Interesting post about Sir Paul. I just read an article on his wife (latest, not Linda) and another one on the photographer who shot the picture you posted.
I am not totally sure what to say about the McCarthy family. On many sides, they seem great. On others, I am not convinced their support for the animal cause is sincere and complete. Ok, now you can cover me with dirt for saying that!

I'm sorry about the icky stuff....hopefully it will be over soon.

I've never known such a Paul fan! Are you as big a fan of the beetles, or is just Paul solo that you love?

Kleopatra... sorry to hear about your personal stuff. I wish you all the strength and wisdom to get through it.

Oh yes, and that is very cool that you saw Paul McCartney in real life.

Thanks for the Sir Paul story, tres cool. Too bad you didn't get a chance to say Hi, but I can imagine your surprise at actually seeing him!!! I was always a 'George' fan but Paul was very cute in his day, was he good looking in person?
Thanks for stopping by Veggies...hope your personal problems are settled soon. I can relate, we have a pile of 'bad things' to deal with, mainly beyond our control. Not fun. BFN, G
