On top of old Smokey...

Thank you very much for all the b'day wishes!
I turned 41 on Monday. ZOINKS!
At least it's a prime number...

The Friday before I went away last weekend (to Newport Beach and Catalina, with Peter), one of my nephews visiting from England (via Florida where he is attending school), Reuven, went with Mattie & me up Cowles Mountain, which is a good 30-45 minute hike uphill, 20-30 minutes back down. The two of 'em earned a respite up at the top!

It was pretty hot that day but we had planned to go before the weekend so off we went. Reuven was a trouper and the Matster did superb. My little 12-year-old deaf girl is still in great shape. And for that, among myriad other things, i am thankful. Note Reuven's CANADA shirt. He attended a different school in Montreal last year and is a fan of our friendly neighbors to the north.

Above, note the effects of a jaunt uphill on a warm afternoon.
Below, you can see they're patiently waiting for me near
where my parents live. My camera batteries ran out...
before we even left. Good thing we checked beforehand!

An informative & relevant, albeit a bit long read about just where produce comes from, the nutritional comparison of locally-grown vs. corporate-type farm harvested fruits & vegetables, and how our food gets shipped around and about.

The story, written by a vegetarian, has a San Diego County angle but i believe it will be enlightening for anyone interested in this subject:

Hope everyone's had a fab week!!
What's your plans for the weekend???
March is here... Spring's just around the corner.
YEAH! I love Spring.
I'll be posting about my trip last weekend... this weekend!
And checking in on all your blogs so i can see what you've been up to...

Thoughts for the weekend:

And, if you would, a moment of silence for
BOSTON lead singer and long-time
(no pun intended) vegetarian Brad Delp,
who passed away last Friday in New Hampshire...

witty and kind-hearted BEATLES fanatic:

What a great pic of you and Mattie...You certainly don't look 41! I refuse to believe it :) That's great you got to spend time with your nephew too. Sounds like a great hike. Love the 50 ways to build World Peace!!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend :)

Happy, Happy Birthday Kleo!!! I hope you had a good one. Many happy returns.:-)

I am sooo excited that spring is around the corner - that means lots of time outdoors for me.

This weekend includes a date night with my hubby, a long walk with the baby, and some R&R time.

Have a good one!

I've been always thinking of taking trips to the mountains especially when I will get my own dog soon!

Hope you had a happy, fabulous b'day my Piscean Pal. BEing 41 isn't so bad--I say that now as I face the big 4-2 next week.

Mattie is such a cutie, as is your nephew!

Happy Birthday! I'm honored that we share the same birthday month, although, alas, I'm not a Pisces, but an Aries! So cool that you got to visit with your nephew. I wish more family would visit me, but for some reason, frozen Syracuse is just not a travel destination! gasp!

Happy birthday Kleo, 41 is such a lovely age to be.

And what am I doing this weekend on Australia's Gold Coast?

Having a spring clean on a very hot day, recycling or throwing out everything I don't use and it feels good,

Have a great birthday weekend,

best wishes, The Artist

Happy birthday... you look fantastic! And so does Mattie :)

Yes, I am job hunting in Southern California. So if you know anyone looking to hire an interventional cardiologist, give 'em my name!

Happy Birthday, dear friend :-)

Mattie (and Reuven) look pretty good in my book for having just made that hike. It sounds like you really enjoyed your nephew's visit.

I heard about Brad Delp - it does sound like he was a wonderful man and certainly one of the most distinguishable voices in rock and roll.

Wow, that looks like a fun hike. I wish the weather was nicer here to do something like that.

I am so intrigued about your nephew.. what is he doing over here for school? All the way from England?
