Bowling for Animals & Wedding bells

It's almost time for the ninth annual Bowling for the Animals! I love their little logos...

http://www.bowlingfortheanimals.org/ (Wo)Man, i wish all of you awesome blogsters could participate in this... even if you think you "can't bowl." They should do stuff like this everywhere!

(I posted about this last year: http://piscesplace.blogspot.com/2006/04/regrets.html .)

This is a totally, totally, totally 100 percent fun event put on every year by a few wonderful animal- and vegan-friendly sponsors. Proceeds go to Spay-Neuter Action Project http://www.snap-sandiego.org/ , California Animal Association http://www.upc-online.org/winter0405/sacramento.htm , Feral Cat Coalition http://www.feralcat.com/ and San Diego Animal Advocates http://www.animaladvocates.org/ . There's vegan food galore, prizes, raffles, bowling and the best thing: meeting like-minded animal lovers.

I couldn't go in 2006 because i was out of town, but i'm planning to join in this year's festivities... I'm soooooo excited!

The BFTA photog caught me after
i probably gutter-balled one in 2005:

Urban Vegan asked me recently about our dear vegan friend, the "ferocious killer kat" and "Mumbai Vegan" (among his many nom de plumes)... Remember fellow blogger Kunsjoi? He moved last year from Los Angeles to his home country of India... and guess what?

He's getting married!

Her name is Dipti and not only is she vegetarian, she's also gorgeous...
i am thrilled for both of them!!

... and speaking of India, here's what Russell Simmons, the vegan pioneer of Def-Jam Records, has to say about a simple life, as told to Daily India:

And on a tough note, Mattie's going in for an ultrasound tomorrow at a specialty clinic... my little punkinhead's had a recurring bladder infection that my veterinarians & i have not been able to keep in check. i'm going to see more clearly what's going on... please think good thoughts for her!
***UPDATE!!!*** Mattie got a clean bill (never mind the bill i'm
payin'!!) of health after her ultrasound... YAY! We're still trying to
figure out what is wrong, but it's not anything serious. i am very
thankful! i so appreciate everyone's positive thoughts & prayers.
We certainly felt 'em and i know they helped pull her through.
THANK YOU!

Oooo!! GIANT PRAYERS FOR MATTIE!! I hope she won't be scared. And I hope this test will get to the bottom of things.
Have fun at the bowling event. I would so go to that if I was there. I got my pledge form in the mail today for the Animal Aid walk-a-thon that we do every year. I know if you were here, you'd come along for that. Is Peter going to the bowling event? If so, have him take photos!
Again, good luck to Mattie (and to you) Hugs to you both!

Well thoughts are being sent for Mattie. Kunsjoi sent me an e-mail but I didn't get a picture. Future Mrs. K is beautiful. How exciting! The bowling event sounds fun, only the last time I went bowling I think I might have received a score of 60 something.... I did better with bumper pads.

Wow, that's terrible. I hope your dog is okay. :(

Good luck with the bowling!

Aww, I'll be thinking positive thoughts all day long for Mattie! I hope she'll be better soon. I love that photo of you, by the way!

Oh, poor Mattie. Bladder infections are fun for nobody. I hope she gets better and more importantly feels better soon. Thanks for the Kunsjoi update- I hate that I can't access his blog any more!

Bowling for animals sounds so fun! I actually do love bowling, even though I'm not great at it, and that sounds like an awesome event.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. You know, I totally understand about the vaccuum cleaner- I get excited about those kinds of gifts too! We usually give each other kitchen goods as gifts (and then get really excited about using them ourselves!)

Best wish for the Matster....poor little sweetie. I hope she feels better. You're such good mama, Kleo.

Bowling for animals sounds like so much fun. I am the world's worst bowler.

Thanks for the update on Kunsjoi (He just sent me an email!) Such exciting news. I have missed him and am so tickled to hear his fabulous news. His wife-to-be is gorgeous, inside and outm obviously since she's vegetarian.

Great to hear that Mattie is okay. It's always scary not knowing what is wrong, but such a relief to find out it's not serious. *hugs to the pup*

For a second I thought this said "Bowling for Animals" without the "the" (hey, I used "the" twice in a row). Sounds like a fun, worthy cause!

That photo of you is awesome! It proves that nearly all vegans are fit and beautiful!

OOOO... SO GLAD to hear Mattie is OK. I worry so much when my furry 'kids' have to go to the Doctor.

Hey, and thanks for the comment about my Seattle VegFest adventure too - it really WAS a hoot!

Just stopped by and read your update - RELIEF - yay for Mattie! There is something so extra sad about a sick animal or one who's in pain, I'm so glad there is nothing seriously wrong with the little pup, as you said. You must be so relieved.

I love that bowling for animals- what a great idea. If I ever get any time, would love to organize something like that in NYC...

Glad to hear the ultra sound showed Mattie has nothing serious. Maybe it is something in her diet ? Hope you get to the bottom of it soon.

A Bowling Day for the Animals. What a great idea. I only tried it once and never got asked again as I seem to aim for the gullies running down the sides LOL

I am glad that Mattie is doing well I'm hoping you pinpoint what it is. I know one of my pets had a bladder infection a long time ago. I cannot remember what I did. It was something alternative but it escapes me at the moment.

So pleased all is well with Mattie, and have a wonderful Easter.

A quiet one here with lots of cleaning as my unit (apartment) is being auctioned in 4 weeks and the public is coming through over Easter.
