Dear deer

A friend of mine who used to work with me sent me a belated birthday gift which I got in the mail today: the 2006 National Parks Pass! I can't believe it. What a cool gift! Vince Denny, the pal who got me the pass, also took this photo of this dear deer when he was hiking somewhere... Yosemite perhaps. I can't wait to get to more National Parks, that I know for sure... Anyone have any faves they recommend? (And I wouldn't forget Canada... though I don't think the pass will work there!) Last year I went to Zion National Park in Utah. I absolutely fell in love with it!

We went to Yellowstone last summer and our family had the time of our life. Even our stay at the cabin in MT was memorable. Seeing Old Faithful erupt was one thing, encounter with wild animals was another! Undescribable, K!

Everything we experienced there just confirms of this absolutely amazing Creator.

wow. that is way cool.

a few years ago we went to Sedona arizona and saw the most AMAZING lightening storm. in fact, and NO LIE, we had to jump in the truck becuase it headed right for our campsite. i thought 'if i live through this it'll be the most amazing story' and it was.

very very beautiful city, by the way. i'd recommend that.

Karen and I used to chat back and forth often when we worked together. I live in the Reno area now, what better way to get KP to come visit?

The kewl thing about the NP Pass is it won't activate till you first use it and good for a year after that.

The picture of the deer was taken in Mineral King, Sequoia National Park, in summer '04. That day, on the trail from Mineral King to Sawtooth Pass, I encountered a dozen deer including a pair of fawns. Haven't seen a bear in a couple years, are they hiding? Here is some bear info.

Wow, that is an amazing gift, lucky you! I was in Sedona in June last year, I took so many pictures on that trip, it was breathtaking. I went to Yellowstone when I was 12 and remember that being pretty cool. When Jason and I were moving across the county a couple years ago we stopped to tour the painted desert in Arizona, not to be missed. Wherever you go have a good time and be sure to share your pictures with us!

I've never been to any parks out west. We have part of the Appalachian trail through our area, Lake Minnewaska State Park and some amazing hiking areas here and in the Catskills.

I've never been to a national park. Shocking, i know. But I'd love to go see several. I've seen beautiful pictures of Yellowstone and a park out in/near the desert (the name escapes me). That is on my list for when my daughter gets a bit older. I can't yet afford to travel but someday...

anyway i hope you have great fun using your birthday present!
